Aged since crafted in 2017, this fully developed oud and ethereal blue lotus was born from two sacred materials, blended in proportion to the Golden Ratio. It was my way of rekindling the magick I explored as a teenager--an alchemical act rooted in memory, intention, and reverence.
At its heart is Blue Lotus, Nymphaea caerulea, not truly a lotus, but a water lily revered by the ancient Egyptians. They anointed themselves and their sacred objects with it. Its scent is narcotic, opiate-like, intensely floral--and in this blend it marries with an earthy Oud from Papua New Guinea.
To anchor it, I paired it with a rare Papua New Guinea Oud, aged in my chest for eight years. It’s primal and grounding--dense with the scent of humic soil and forest floor. Notes of moss and rain-soaked earthy and woody emerge and fade like a distant chant.
Together, these two create a quiet tension, a conversation between Heaven (Blue Lotus) & Earth (Oud). Others would have broken the Golden Ratio and diluted the magic with Sandalwood. I did not. These are two perfect materials composed to highlight the work.
I only made a few grams and decanted a small amount for personal use. I reserve it for moments of ritual, restoration, and celebration. When worn, it garners admiration from those with a refined olfactory sensibility. It’s not a loud or animalic/barnyard/smokey Oud/Blue Lotus scent. Instead, it’s contemplative. Sacred. A scent to inhale when you want to listen, not scream. It has a superb projection and hours of longevity.
I share what’s possible when memory, youth, magick, and rare materials align. This is an unisex attar for the collector, the meditative soul. Neither Blue Lotus Absolute nor the earthy Oud dominates: They orbit each other like twin stars.
This is a work that will teach you about smells over time. A rare scent that introduces the spiritual into everyday life.
