Father's Grip
Releases September 2025
2.5 grams of a scented remembering--in an attar bottle with glass applicator
Father's Grip is a work stripped to its essence--no top notes, no florals, no embellishment. It opens exactly where others fade: in the drydown.
This attar is a reverent hymn of woods. Pure, dry, and sacred. It includes eaglewood, oud, sandalwood, and aged patchouli. It opens not with smoke or spice, citrus or aldehydes, but with the raw memory of freshly hewn timber: the clean scent of sawdust rising in golden beams of morning light, suspended in the stillness of a hardware store aisle.
This scent revolves around two uncompromising stars—eaglewood and agarwood essential oils, with a profile reminiscent of a fine Thai oud oil at its final stage...woody, freshly cut lumber...austere and grounding (but not in an soil-like way). The oils are blended perfectly thanks to many experiments with proportions. Each material speaks with depth and immediacy. There's no buildup, no sweetness...just the clean, dry breath of sacred woods.
Supporting the natural oud and eaglewood are an aged patchouli and a decade-old sandalwood, not to soften, but to reinforce. Dry, dignified, temple-quiet woods. A hint of contemporary musk ensures diffusion and lift--subtle, yet essential--pushing the sacred sticks forward.
There are no florals, no resins, no sparkly notes, only the smell of a perfume's drydown.
Inspired by the memory of a construction store in my boyhood, walking hand-in-hand with my father, passing by aisles of sun-warmed lumber. This is a memory turned into a scent that evokes the aroma of agarwood incense sticks before the flame: pure, silent, sacred.
For those who want the soul of wood without prelude. Just wood, memory, and reverence. This is for you.
