Name: Santalum Austrocaledonicum (same species as New Caledonia Sandalwood)
Origin: Vanuatu
Sandalwood oil from about 2010. My source sold a lot of this. He purchased 25kg at a time, and Eden Botanicals was the only one in North America importing it. After my source sold Eden Botanicals, the distiller ran out of wood and left the islands.
The Vanuatu sandalwood is S. Austrocaledonicum, the same species as New Caledonia Sandalwood. It has a strong aroma with a smoky and unique (and beautiful) leather note in it. It is a bit more funky than most any other sandalwood oil.
